Grey skies and weeks of rain left us at last, with a rainbow’s calm and a glorious 4th of July celebration with family and friends – a refreshing and much needed departure from a season of dreariness that seemed to take over. The days were long, light and crisp – crisp with color and contrast…everything I saw was blue…
And just as I thought it couldn’t get any better, we washed a (blue) car.
1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster
(calling it a blue car really doesn’t do it justice).
Arriving at the NY Auto Show in the mid 1950’s, the 190SL was a glamorous and relatively affordable way to enjoy Mercedes quality in an open air form.
With an original cost around $4000, around 26,000 models were built 1955 and 1963.
